Ben's passion for the outdoors was kindled at a very young age and he is happy anywhere near woodland and water. Some of his earliest memories include building dams in streams and walking around the Dales and Lake District with his family.
He could usually be found after school and on holidays in local woodland and farmland exploring with friends, building shelters and identify plants and watching animals.
Ben joined the scouting movement and was taught the basic foundation of skills like camping, navigation, water purification and fire lighting. After a bushcraft themed camp at about aged 12 he was hooked and has enjoyed developing his skills further ever since.
Now he works full time in woodland management and is training to be a tree surveyor so has a great understanding of trees, both by identification and their biology. Still regularly out hiking, paddling, carving he is now a scout leader and instructor for Fenland Bushcraft who likes to pass on his knowledge and passion to anyone who will listen.
